Tata continues expanding its electric-car pipeline

Tata Motors is continuing to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio in India, with a growing line-up spanning compact cars, mid-size SUVs and premium electric SUVs. The company’s current EV range includes models such as the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Harrier.ev and Sierra.ev, giving buyers more choices across different price and body-style segments.

India’s electric-car market is becoming increasingly competitive, and Tata is continuing to expand its presence through a broader range of products rather than relying on a single EV model. The company has already established EV offerings across multiple segments and is adding larger and more feature-rich electric SUVs to its portfolio.

Tata’s EV range is becoming broader

Tata’s current electric portfolio covers several important parts of the Indian passenger-car market. Its smaller EVs include the Tiago.ev and Punch.ev, while the Nexon.ev and Curvv.ev target buyers looking for more space and SUV-oriented styling. At the upper end, Tata has added the Harrier.ev, while the Sierra.ev is also part of the company’s current electric-vehicle line-up.

This broader portfolio gives Tata an opportunity to address different customer requirements, including urban commuting, family use and larger SUV ownership.

Harrier.ev marks an important step for Tata

The Tata Harrier.ev represents one of the company’s biggest moves into the premium electric SUV segment. Tata Motors announced production of the Harrier.ev in July 2025, with production beginning at its Pune facility and customer deliveries scheduled from July 2025.

Tata subsequently announced pricing for the Harrier.ev, with the range starting at ₹21.49 lakh and quad-wheel-drive variants introduced from ₹28.99 lakh as introductory prices at the time of launch.

The Harrier.ev therefore extends Tata’s EV portfolio beyond smaller urban-focused electric cars and into a larger SUV category where customers increasingly expect higher performance, more space and longer-distance capability.

Sierra.ev adds another important electric SUV

Tata’s current EV website also lists the Sierra.ev alongside its established electric models. The company describes the Sierra.ev as an electric SUV focused on space, technology and everyday usability.

The addition of another SUV gives Tata more room to compete across different parts of the electric SUV market as Indian consumers increasingly consider electric vehicles for family and long-distance use.

Tata is continuing to invest in its existing EV portfolio

The company’s EV strategy is not limited to launching new models. Tata has also continued updating its existing products and ownership proposition.

For example, Tata currently lists the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev among models covered by its high-voltage battery warranty programme, with specific warranty terms depending on the vehicle and ownership conditions.

Tata has also promoted EV purchase benefits across models such as the Curvv.ev, Punch.ev and Nexon.ev, showing that the company is continuing to support its existing EV range while expanding the portfolio.

Why Tata’s expanding EV portfolio matters

For Indian EV buyers, a wider product line-up means more choice in terms of:

  • Price: from relatively accessible compact EVs to premium SUVs
  • Body style: hatchbacks and multiple SUV formats
  • Size: city-focused cars through to large family SUVs
  • Performance: different battery and power configurations
  • Ownership needs: urban commuting, family use and longer journeys

This broader approach is important because Indian EV demand is becoming less concentrated around a single vehicle type. Buyers now have increasingly different expectations around range, charging, performance, cabin space and price.

What could come next?

Tata’s current EV portfolio suggests that the company is continuing to build a multi-model electric strategy rather than treating EVs as a separate niche product line. Its official EV range now includes seven named models across different segments, while its recent launches show an increasing focus on larger electric SUVs.

For buyers, the important question will increasingly be which Tata EV fits their needs, rather than whether Tata offers an electric car at all.

As competition increases from Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia, MG, BYD and other EV makers in India, Tata’s expanding portfolio will put more emphasis on pricing, real-world range, charging capability, features and ownership experience.

Tata Electric Cars in India

Tata’s current electric range includes:

Tata EV Positioning
Tiago.ev Compact electric hatchback
Punch.ev Electric compact SUV
Nexon.ev Electric SUV
Curvv.ev Electric SUV coupe
Harrier.ev Large electric SUV
Sierra.ev Electric SUV
Tigor.ev Electric sedan

Tata’s official EV product pages currently list these models as part of its electric range.

Final Takeaway

Tata’s electric-car strategy is moving toward a broader and more diversified portfolio. With established models such as the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev and Nexon.ev now joined by larger SUVs including the Harrier.ev and Sierra.ev, the company is expanding its coverage across multiple EV segments.

For Indian consumers, this means more Tata electric cars to compare based on price, battery capacity, driving range, charging performance, practicality and daily usage.
